West Bengal government announced localised public holidays on polling dates

If the date of the polling has not been declared as a holiday in the employee’s place of work, who are working outside his parliamentary or assembly constituency, then they can apply for leave on the specific polling day. As per the West Bengal government, all the state-run government offices, undertaking organisations, boards, statutory and local bodies, corporations, and educational institutions within the parliamentary constituencies and the assembly seats will remain closed on the polling dates. As per the state government, the polling personnel can apply for special leave on the day after polling, in case the polling process continues up to late hours on the poll dates thereby causing delay in joining their offices next day.

Sectional holiday announced on account of Prakash Purab

On Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared a sectional holiday in honour of Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh's 'Prakash Purab.' All West Bengal Sikh employees working for the state government, schools, state boards, corporations, panchayat and municipal employees, etc., will observe a holiday on Prakash Purab in honour of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji.
