Apart from national and regional holidays, there is another category of holidays. This is called 'Bank Holidays' which can be availed only by the employees of the public sector banks in the country. As part of bank holidays, all branches of public sector banks that function in the country remain closed on every second and fourth Saturdays of the month. These holidays are in addition to the public holidays that bank employees and officials are eligible for in a year.

Poush Parban is also known as Pous Sankranti in Tripura. It celebrates the onset of the Sun’s northward journey (Uttarayan) and marks the end of season of harvesting. Devotees soak in the Gomati river and a fair is held most famously at Tirthamukh.
During Republic Day, Tripura holds official flag-hoisting events and parades, mainly at the Assam Rifles Ground, with participation of security forces and tribal police units.
Garia Puja is a tribal festival in Tripura. It is celebrated by Tripuri community, mainly the ones who speak Kokborok language and worship their God named Baba Garia for well-being and prosperity.
During the festival of Diwali, people of Tripura visit Tripura Sundari Temple. It is one among the 51 Hindu pithas of India. Here Goddess Sati right foot is believed to have fallen, and the site is worshipped with diyas, lights and fairs.
In Kharchi Puja of Tripura, 14 deities are worshipped to purify the Mother Earth. The festival is seven day long and it cleanse the ‘sins’ of the people after what is believed to be the Mother Earth’s menstruation.
Banks in Tripura remain closed on 21 April 2025 (Monday), due to celebration of the regional festival, Garja Puja, in the state. This holiday is recognized under the Reserve Bank of India's list of holidays specific to each state. Both public and private sector banks in Tripura will not be working on this day. Banks in other parts of India will operate as usual unless they observe a separate regional holiday.
