The categories mentioned above are broad classifications. The state has further classifications under certain categories, as in the case of motorcycles, which are classified based on the cubic capacity of the particular bike.

How to Apply for Driving Licence in Maharashtra

Those applying for a driving licence in Maharashtra can now do so from the comfort of their homes as well, with the Regional Transport Authority (RTO) in the state introducing online applications as well.

Driving Licence Online Application Process in Maharashtra

1. Visit www.sarathi.nic.in, the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
2. Select the "Driving Licence" tab on the homepage, whereupon the form for a new driving licence will be displayed.
3. You can choose to download the form onto your computer and fill in the information requested (such as vehicle details, personal details etc.) at the moment or fill it up at a later time.
4. Once you have filled in all the relevant details, upload the documents required and submit the form. You will have to carry the originals when you visit the RTO for your driving test.
5. You will receive an acknowledgement, an application number and you will receive a notification once your application has been processed.

Eligibility for Driving Licence in Maharashtra

How to Apply for Duplicate Driving Licence Maharashtra Online

Procedure for Applying for Duplicate Driving Licence in Maharashtra

How to Apply for International Driving licence in Maharashtra

Individuals holding a valid Indian driving licence who are travelling overseas may desire to drive while abroad. However their Indian licence may not be valid in those countries, necessitating the need to acquire an International Driving Licence.
